Article 8-
The Truth About Online Pharmacies
In the past decade there has
been a major change in the way people buy
prescriptions drugs. In the old days if you needed
medications you had to go to a brick and mortar
pharmacy store to purchase them. Nowadays there is a
much more convenient and private alternative called
an online pharmacy. No need to leave your
home and go out into the public where you face
potentially embarrassing situations by discussing
your health problems with a pharmacist while other
people stand in line behind you listening. Online
pharmacies offer privacy and convenience, but
not all of them are safe to use and many of them are
quite fraudulent when it comes to their business
practices.
You can now buy your
prescription drugs online in the comfort of your
home and have them delivered right to your door in a
generic package the very next day. No more
embarrassing trips to the corner drugstore. This can
be a good thing for some people. Men know what I
mean if they have ever bought Viagra,
Cialis, Levitra or Propecia at
their local pharmacy and women know what I mean if
they have bought any medicine for such things as a
yeast infection or menstruation problems.
Online pharmacies can
also be quite a valuable service to people who are
disabled, or too ill to travel. Maybe they just live
too far away from any pharmacy to drive there every
time they need medications for something that ails
them. Farmers and Park Rangers who live in remote
areas are a good example of the latter.
But while some customers are
welcoming the new age of online pharmacies,
others are quite concerned about them. They worry
that safety, authenticity and responsibility may be
low on the priority list with the people who sell
prescription drugs online. This is because the
regulations and restrictions that are relatively
easy to enforce with brick and mortar pharmacies in
the US are not so easy to enforce with online
pharmacies that operate outside this country.
The Internet is basically a
wide open free for all with no official world
governing agency. This can be quite worrisome to
someone who is thinking of buying prescription
drugs online. Many people feel that profit is
the only concern for those who operate online
pharmacies from a foreign country. Any other
issues regarding safety and authenticity do not
matter to owners of foreign pharmacy sites because
nobody is forcing them to care about these issues.
With the absence of global laws
you basically have a self governing industry when it
comes to online pharmacies. This may not be
enough oversight in the eyes of many when it comes
to buying medications. Taking medications provided
by a non US licensed, incompetent or possibly
fraudulent online pharmacy can be a dangerous
business. They could be providing you with drugs
that are expired, made with poor quality ingredients
or worse yet, made with something that could hurt
you.
Many of the drugs that are
being sold in the United States are being sold by
online pharmacies that operate from foreign
countries. These so called prescription drugs they
sell are not approved by the Federal Drug
Administration, or FDA and it is illegal to sell
them here.
The best way to buy
prescription drugs online is to make sure you
buy from a US licensed pharmacy that sells
FDA approved drugs. Every state in the United
States has a governing board of pharmacies and the
National Association of Boards of Pharmacy, or NABP
has contact information about every one of them.
If you are thinking about
buying prescription drugs online such as
Viagra, Cialis, Levitra or even
antibiotics like Amoxicillin, Tetracycline or
Penicillin it is a good idea to do a little research
about any online pharmacy you are considering
using for your purchases. There are legitimate and
safe online pharmacies and there are sketchy and
fraudulent ones too.
Choosing the right online
pharmacy is a serious matter. The most important
factor is whether or not they are a US licensed
pharmacy that is licensed by one of the fifty
states in the United States. US licensed
pharmacies must operate by the laws that govern
the pharmacy industry in this country. When you are
buying prescription drugs online from a US
licensed pharmacy you can be certain that you
are buying FDA approved drugs that are
exactly what they claim to be with no dangerous
ingredients. This is quite important when you
consider the fact that your health and well being
could be at stake when you buy medications at an
online pharmacy.
